Massive 14.1 kWp Solar Array with Tesla Powerwall 3 on a Residential House: Case Study
✅30 x 470W Aiko Solar Panels (14.1 kWp)
✅ Tesla Powerwall 3 battery with 13.5 kWh of storage capacity)
✅Whole home back-up in case of power-cuts
✅Connection to Octopus Export Tariffs to sell all the excess solar
Countries with the best standard of living happen to have abundant renewable energy resources. That’s probably no co-incidence. Maybe that’s also part of the reason our customer Tony decided to massively oversize this solar array compared to his electricity usage.
With the cost of solar at an all-time low, interest rates low and electricity prices still very high, one of the best places to invest is by adding solar to your roof… the more the merrier!
We met Tony at the Everything Electric Show in Harrogate last year where we spent time looking at what system would be best for his East / West facing bungalow roof. We quickly realised that his house could support an absolutely massive solar array (big enough to power 3 – 4 houses).
This solar array, coupled with a Tesla Powerwall 3 battery means that Tony will get almost all of his electricity from his solar panels. In the shortest and darkest winter days he will be able to top his battery up from the grid on a cheap, night rate. In addition to this, Tony can export surplus solar energy to the grid and be paid 15 p per kWh for it. Overall, his electricity bills will be negative and the system will pay for its self in well under 10 years.
Its great to see that tackling climate change is actually cheaper than doing nothing and relying on fossil fuels.
A huge thank you to Tony and Heather for choosing us for their massive 14.1 kWp solar array and Tesla Powerwall 3 installation. It’s been an absolute joy to bring their vision to life, from our first chat at Harrogate’s Everything Electric Show to the final switch-on!
We were thrilled to have Ben back on the installation team—truly a superstar. A warm welcome to Nina, whose incredible work made her an instant legend on this project. We can’t wait to team up with her again! And a special nod to Chris, our camera-shy electrical expert, who ensured every connection was flawless.
